Commissions and Site-Specific Installations
The images in this folder show that I am responsive to individual sites, that I work on a scale from gallery to installations and public commissions; and, that I work in a variety of materials such as cast bronze, and fabrications in steel, aluminum and mixed media.
Site-specific installations and commissions offer many challenges which I find stimulating and thought provoking. How can a sculpture celebrate the environment? My response was Ball of Leaves my first public art commission in 1995 for the corporate headquarters of Salomon, Inc., at the now former 7 World Trade Center, New York, NY, USA.
As a mother, I have very much enjoyed making interactive sculptures for children and their families, please refer to Haystacks in the Field, Nos. 1 and 2; Dorothy Was Here; Nesting Ground: Seven to be Found; and, Cymbal-Lene.
I have long been fascinated with the elegance and lyricism of water imagery and have sought to realize its magical and tranquil qualities in sculpture, please refer to my floating site-specific installation, Dragonflies for the Adkins Arboretum in Ridgely, MD, USA.
I believe my portfolio shows that I bring a respect and sensitivity to each project as each project is unique.
