The images in this folder are of maquettes produced for finalist and semi-finalist awards for national public art projects.
I attempt to bring to each element of the design many layers of meaning.
I grew up learning about the world by picking up objects, holding them, breaking them, seeing what they were like on the inside and outside. I remember assembling models of ships and airplanes gluing all the pieces together, and then painting them. I suspended these models on strings from the ceiling in my bedroom. I guess I was always a builder, bringing parts together to make a whole.
